Life at the School

The school holds a number of events during the academic year that form a valuable part of school life.  Recent highlights include:

Community Tea - each class takes it in turn to host a Community Tea during the year. The children serve refreshments, wait on tables and share their work with their invited guests.

School Cafe - the PTA hold cafes at certain times of the year to raise funds for the school.

Visitors to the School

Fire Service - the fire service are based just around the corner from the school. We welcomed them into school for a 'Fireworks Awareness Assembly' and all the children got a chance to ask questions and go in the fire engine.  Great fun was had by all - children and adults!

Local Churches - the local churches help with one assembly a week and the local Baptist Minister leads our singing assemblies once a week.

Sport

Please use the link on the left to find out more about the lunchtime sports clubs that run.

Swimming - this year we have used some of our sports funding money to send more children swimming at Daventry Leisure Centre.

Cycle Training - the children in Year 5 & 6 have the opportunity to take part in the Bikeability scheme to ensure they are safe to ride their bicycles around the village.

Sports Day - we hold our Sports Day every June with the Year 2 children from the Infant School also taking part.

Trips

So far this year, Year 6 have spent 5 days on a residential experience to the Isle of Wight.  They had a great time.  They visited the Blue Reef Aquarium in South Sea, Osborne House, Amazon World and Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight, and went on a boat trip around Portsmouth Harbour on the way home.

More visits will be planned in the near future.

Music

Please use the link on the left to discover more about the music tuition available at the school.  We also benefit from having a teacher from the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust every Tuesday teaching all classes in the school.  Our class set of Ukuleles means that all the children get to learn to play a musical instrument.
