At Long Buckby Junior School we are constantly striving to improve our curriculum and we work hard on ensuring that each subject is delievred with the same level of rigour. As a school we have moved away from cross-curricular themes to teaching the Key Stage Two curriculum as discrete subjects whilst exploring links between different areas.
We base our curriculum on the Kapow Teaching Framework which allows us to shape the learning experiences for the chidlren. Kapow is used in the following subject areas:
Physical Eduaction is taught using the PE Planning scheme of work allows for a range of different sports to be taught and cross disciplinary skills to be taught. Click on PE Curriculum Map for the long term plan and here for more information of the objectives we cover.
Religious Education follows the broad principles of the Locally Agreed Syllabus but use aspects of the Kapow Syllabus to allow the children to make links and comparisions more effectively between different faiths. Click here for the RE Subject Document.
English is taught through a combination of various different approaches. Where possible writing is delivered through a book - either fiction or non-fiction.
We use the White Rose Maths to deliver our core maths teaching and the White Rose Science planning to frame our Science teaching. For more information please use the tabs for our Maths Curriculum and Science.
